States Of Matter - Questions
The States Of Matter Concept Builder is comprised of 23 questions organized into 17 Question Groups and spread across three unique activities. The first activity -
Who Am I? - includes 8 Questions which distinguish between the contrasting properties of solids, liquids and gases. The second activity -
Changes of State - includes 1 multi-part Question that targets student ability to name each of six different state transitions (melting, freezing, vaporization, condensation, sublimation, and deposition). The third activity -
Heating Curves - targets student ability to analyze and interpret a heating curve. The questions for each of these activities is shown below.
The Physics Classroom grants teachers and other users the right to print these questions for private use. Users are also granted the right to copy the text and modify it for their own use. However, this document should not be uploaded to other servers for distribution to and/or display by others. The Physics Classroom website should remain the only website or server from which the document is distributed or displayed. We also provide a PDF that teachers can use under the same conditions. We have included a link to the PDF near the bottom of this page.
States Of Matter
Activity 1: Who Am I?

I am not even aware of my intermolecular forces.
I have intermolecular forces; they are just not strong enough to hold my particles in place.
I have intermolecular forces that are stronger than any state; they do a fine job holding my particles in place.
