Air resistance is the force resulting from the collision of moving objects with the air particles that surround it. Air resistance forces (sometimes referred to as drag forces) depend upon a number of variables. Object speed, object shape and air density all effect the amount of air resistance acting upon an object. The way in which each of these variables affect the air resistance (directly or inversely) is related to the fact that the force results from collisions with air particles. Any variation in these three variables that would increase the number of or the severityof these collisions would result in more air resistance.
