Bronsted-Lowry Acid and Base Model

The Bronsted-Lowry Acid and Base Model Concept Builder challenges learners to think about acid- and base-dissociation in terms of proton transfer. There are three scaffolded activities. The first activity - Fundamental Concepts - consists of all multiple choice questions that target a basic understanding of fundamental concepts associated with the Bronsted-Lowry model. The second activity - Conjugate Acid-Base Pairs - challenges learners to think about the result of a proton transfer between an acid and water or between water and a base. The third and final activity - Dissociation Equations - challenges learners to identify the balanced chemical equation that takes place when an acid or a base dissociates in water. There are a total of 38 questions in this Concept Builder. They are organized into 18 different Question Groups and spread across the three activities. Question-specific help is provided for each of the 18 situations. The built-in score-keeping makes this Concept Builder a perfect candidate for a classroom activity.
