Vectors and Projectiles - Mission VP10 Detailed Help

A projectile is launched horizontally and hits the ground in 0.50 second. If it is launched horizontally with twice the speed in the same direction, then it would hit the ground in ... .

The horizontal and vertical motions of a projectile are simultaneous and perpendicular to each other. Perpendicular parts of a motion are independent of each other. Any alteration in a horizontal component of motion (such as horizontal velocity) will not affect the vertical components of motion. As such the time to fall vertically is independent and unaffected by the horizontal velocity.
