## Photos from The Physics Classroom's Flickr Group

### Lesson 1: Refraction at a Boundary

Lesson 1 introduces the concept of refraction, elaborating of the cause and the variables that affect the amount of refraction. The concepts of optical density and the index of refraction are discussed. Items in the group's pool include photos depicting the refraction of light by various media and photos of animals (archer fish, kingfishers, etc) that have learned to compensate for refraction. Photos complement many of the discussions from Lesson 1 of the Refraction and the Ray Model of Light chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.

### Lesson 2: The Mathematics of Refraction

Lesson 2 discusses Snell's law and the mathematics associated with refraction. Items in the group's pool include photos of objects submerged in water, laser paths through prisms, protractors, and much more. Photos complement many of the discussions from Lesson 2 of the Refraction and the Ray Model of Light chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.

### Lesson 3: Total Internal Reflection

Lesson 3 discusses the reflection and refraction of light at a boundary and the variables that affect the proportion of each. Total internal reflection and the concept of a critical angle are introduced and explained. Items in the group's pool include photos of sparkling diamonds, fiber optic devices, refraction on optical benches and much more. Photos complement many of the discussions from Lesson 3 of the Refraction and the Ray Model of Light chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.

### Lesson 4: Interesting Refraction Phenomenon

Lesson 4 discusses the dispersion of light by prisms, the formation of rainbows and the formation of mirages. Items in the group's pool include photos of various atmospheric refraction phenomena (rainbows, mirages, halos, sun dogs, sun pillars, etc.), the dispersion of light by prisms, the visible light spectrum, and much more. Photos complement many of the discussions from Lesson 4 of the Refraction and the Ray Model of Light chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.

### Lesson 5: Image Formation by Lenses

Lesson 5 discusses the manner in which converging and diverging lenses from images. Ray diagrams are explained and the characteristics of images are discussed. Items in the group's pool include photos depicting the refraction of light and the formation of images by lenses, wine glasses, water goblets, dew drops, and much more. Photos complement many of the discussions from Lesson 5 of the Refraction and the Ray Model of Light chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.

### Lesson 6: The Eye

Lesson 6 discusses the anatomy of the eye and the manner in which the eye forms images of objects. Eye problems such as myopia and hyperopia are explained and the use of corrective lenses is discussed. Items in the group's pool include photos of human eyes, the human retina, the compound eyes of insects, eye charts, prescription lenses, and much more. Photos complement many of the discussions from Lesson 6 of the Refraction and the Ray Model of Light chapter of The Physics Classroom Tutorial.
