Trajectory

TheTrajectory Interactive is a numerical and graphical modeling program for modeling the two-dimensional motion of an object moving through the air under the influence of air resistance. The program computes the effect of air resistance upon the motion characteristics of the object, allowing learners to study realistic motions without resorting to the Ignore air resistance excuse. It is ideal for studying the effects of varying a parameter (drag coefficient, profile area, air density, initial height and velocity, and object mass) upon the characteristics of a motion. Learners enter parameters associated with a real-world motion and view data and plots representing the motion.

Users are encouraged to open the Interactive and explore. For teachers who wish to use this interactive with their classes, we have prepared an activity sheet that focuses student attention on exploring What if ...? styled questions using the numerical modeling powers of the program.
