Light Intensity

The Light Intensity Concept Builder is a tool that allows the learner to predict the effect of varying light bulb power and varying surface-bulb separation distance upon the illuminance upon a surface. There are 12 different situations to analyze and three activities. Each situation requires that the learner use proportional reasoning and the relationship between illuminance and light bulb power and distance in order to determine the illuminance that would result when one or more of these variables is altered. Question-specific help is provided for each of the 12 situations. The built-in score-keeping makes this Concept Builder a perfect candidate for a classroom activity.
